The Christian Holiday
Secularism, pushing aside “Merry Christmas,” reduces Christianity to “Happy Holidays.” But the date recognizing Christ’s birth is still far and away America’s most beloved celebration. We are a good country, and we love sharing our good fortune with others.
For Christians, for others,
God is love.
— 1 John 4:8
Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.
— I Corinthians 13
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God.
— Ephesians 2:8
The ideal of Christianity — faith in Christ that moves one toward kindness, patience, humility, honoring truth, joyfully sharing burdens — takes us toward virtue, away from hatred, abuse, crime. God created each person unique, but of equal worth. The world’s great religions hold these values in common.
Wokeism justifies its separation from these virtues because people calling themselves Christians have historically supported slavery, the Industrial Revolution, capitalism, colonialism, suppression and exploitation of the masses. Wokeism opposes this Christian history, doing so in the name of a post-Christian science.
Yet Wokeism’s list of anti-science supernatural beliefs is long and growing:
- Math is racist
- White “cultural appropriation” is theft
- Culture doesn’t influence human development
- Racism is as bad as ever
- Living whites are guilty of dead whites’ sins
- Speech/silence equals violence
- Prisoners aren’t guilty, the system is
- Jails and prisons aren’t necessary
- Climate change will kill the human race
- Humans are causing the 6th mass extinction
- Prosperity isn’t linked to high energy use
- Organic farming can both feed the world and save nature
- One can change sex by identifying as the other sex
Religions don’t have to be good. Religion is simply a specific set of organized beliefs shared by a community. Beliefs are defined as a feeling of being sure that someone or something exists that is true.
So here we are, says one observer, seeing that “no matter how bad it gets,” Wokeists simply will not learn:
the homeless are going to go where it’s easiest for them. If you don’t prosecute shoplifters because you have some weird idea they deserve what they rob on the grounds that the people they steal from are wealthier than they are, then of course they’ll steal. And nothing that happens seems to shake [Wokeists] out of their stupidity.
Why is such an unattractive faith gripping millions? The Obama-generated coalition of white elitists, nonwhites, unmarried women, and young people— with no significant accomplishments to its name besides Obamacare — needs its post-Christian religion to maintain power by holding progressives together.
Former Chicago Tribune columnist John Kass described the support gay, black actor Jussie Smollett gained from his fake hate crime as having exposed
the fetid alchemy between the dying corporate legacy media and elite Democrats who used his mewing to stoke racial division for votes. These are the high priests of the new religion, and it sanctifies victimization for profit and power.
Merry Christmas!
