Our country is in the hands of a fearful elite. They believe they are better, thus entitled to rule as they please. Democracy tells us they aren’t. Democracy’s “No!” boils down to this truth — “Power corrupts. Absolute power corrupts absolutely.”
Joe Biden is a man of limited abilities. He’s busy mouthing while sidetracking “Build Back Better”agendas. He corruptly dispenses patronage. Nearly one-fourth of his judges are black women. The faithful servant of Obama, he enjoys the ultimate reward — White House residency. His job: maintain the Democrats’ top-down hierarchy, never controlled by the hoi polloi, nor run by Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren, or Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

From the 1970s until the 2008 financial crash, only the top 20% of the country saw its real income steadily grow while the real income of the bottom 80% stagnated. This top 20% consisted largely of affluent college-educated professionals who migrated to the Democratic Party, while large segments of the working class left it.
In 1960, John F. Kennedy lost the white college graduate vote, but won non-college degree whites by 2-to-1. Joe Biden’s results were the opposite. In 1992, almost 60% of Bill Clinton’s voters were non-degree whites, but only 27% of Biden voters were.
This economic divide between upper-middle class Democrats and the rest of the country gave us an intelligentsia aligned with corporations, but disconnected from reality.
Gutentag notes the elite love The Handmaid’s Tale’s coercive medical procedures, its use of mandatory new garbs, censorship, and frozen bank accounts — all in a fictional, right-wing totalitarian state. The truth we live with is progressive vaccine mandates, dubious mask requirements, restricted speech, even seizure (Trudeau’s Canada) of protesters’ bank accounts.
While 48% of “very liberal” people believe COVID posed a “great risk” to children’s health, evidence shows the opposite. The CDC reported that between January and September 2021 just 280 children died with (not from) COVID. Flu and pneumonia kill more. Heart disease, firearms, drowning, and motor vehicles take away more children than does COVID. Calling COVID a “great risk” for kids does, however, justify teacher-dictated school closures.
Among the progressive elite, upward mobility has been declining. College-educated millennials never recovered from the 2008 Recession. They struggle to pay off student debt, rack up high-interest loans, and lived through a “lost decade.” For them, home ownership seems beyond reach.
Stagnation’s pressure means Democrat-affiliated academics, non-government organizations, and bureaucrats campaigning against the “unenlightened” masses, even against their own. Woke professionals advance extreme positions to oust competitors and grab spots in the managerial elite. As intellectual positions become more extreme, the people holding them become more absolutist, cruel, undemocratic.
