Fighting the Wrong Way
“Israeli military strategy. . . could further harden Palestinian attitudes for generations, erode global support for Israel, play into the hands of Israel’s enemies, and undermine long term efforts to achieve peace. . .”
Mark Twain once said that “History never repeats itself, but it does often rhyme.” The Italy, Germany, Japan Axis Powers precipitated World War II (1939-45) because they saw the West unable to fight a war that would mean millions dead and a world destroyed. Historians later concluded Allied failure to act at the threat’s early stage meant far more death and destruction later. The Munich Lesson.
Barack Obama’s word-salad pitch for “peace” (above) seems likely to embolden Iran, Russia, and China -- today's "Axis of Evil" -- to push further against a divided West in the Middle East, in Ukraine, and in Taiwan. We are rhyming the 1938 Munich Lesson. Follow Obama appeasement now, pay a much higher price later.
You say, “Why do you link this to Obama? He’s off the Washington stage.” Yeah sure. The Obama team has owned the Democratic Party since it brought today's progressive coalition -- national elite/government/NGOs/ media/academia/minorities/unmarried women/youth -- to full power in 2008. Puppet Biden represents Obama’s third term, with Barack free of office-duty constraints, but still the boss.
